Acopien Center for the Environment

Acopian Center for the Environment (ACE) is one of the Open Centers of Excellence at AUA that promotes the protection and restoration of the natural environment through research, education, and community outreach.

The Center focuses on the following interest areas:

  • Environmental Policy
  • Sustainable Natural Resources Management
  • Built Environment and Natural Environment
  • Information Technology and the Natural Environment

The Center was founded in 1992 as a center overseeing research and academic programs, with the aim of protecting Armenia’s biodiversity and natural resources through research, education, and public involvement.

In the autumn of 2008, the ECRC was renamed the AUA Acopian Center for the Environment (AUA ACE) in honor of the Center’s late benefactor, Mr. Sarkis Acopian.
